Green Pearl Leedy Last viewed: 17 minutes ago

Hi, All

I just finished a very light restoration on this 1930's Leedy 9x13 Green Pearl" tom. As many of you know, I am "addicted" to Sea Green Pearl drums, so I was happy to be able to add this to my collection. I didnt want to get too aggressive with the restoration and while it has been polished and buffed, I left a few pieces of "patina" as is.

A work of art... thanks for posting the photos. These are drums most of us never run into, or even get to see in-person. I love it when you, or Mike C. and a few other dedicated collectors post photos of your finds.

John

Too many great drums to list here!

Beautiful drum, Mark. I love the batter head tacked right to the hoop. Really neat drum. So when was this wrap available? Just in the late '20s right? If I ever come across a Sea Green anything, you'll be the first to know.

Very cool drum Mark. Hey is the Sea Green Pearl pretty much the same shade and pattern between the different make drums? Slingerland, Liberty, Leedy etc....? Also did it come with the cradle? Thanks~!

Glenn.

Thanks, Mike. Based on catalog information, Leedy's Green Pearl was only offered from about 1929-30 until about 1934. Although, there was certainly some overlap.

The finish definitely varies from company to company and even different years. Leedy's version was very vibrant, leaning towards "lime green". Same with Ludwig & Ludwig, who most likely used the same supplier. Slingerland's Sea Green Pearl was a bit lighter, with more "silvery" background, if that makes sense. Very much like the sea.

Here are a few examples of Leedy, Slingerland, Ludwig, and Liberty. Thanks to Mike Curotto for the Ludwig photo.
