hello,

i see 2 different 60's Gretsch 4160 cob snares: one with smooth shell and strainer with long lever and one with this imprinted line going around the shell and lightning strainer (gladstone type). Which one is the oldest or the best and most sought after?

hello,i see 2 different 60's Gretsch 4160 cob snares: one with smooth shell and strainer with long lever and one with this imprinted line going around the shell and lightning strainer (gladstone type). Which one is the oldest or the best and most sought after?

What are the asking price's? How many lug's on each drum? Condition? If i had to pick one i would go with the one with the lightning strainer it's better strainer then the other one...Mikey

Both have 8 lugs. Pice is both $500, but the one with the lighting strainer is a player while the other is almost mint.

interesting, my 4160 has the knurling around the edge but a micro sensitive strainer... is that earlier or later than the lightning?

It is earlier than the Lightning.
