Hi All, I took a quick look at these drums and was amazed. Slingerland 4 piece with an18" bass drum and matching Artist snare.! And a Gretsch Round Badge 3 piece! All in excellent condition. I got some quick pics, because my bud is going on vacation for a week. What is there worth roughly? I ask because 1,I have never seen an 18" slingy bass drum before even on Ebay. And 2, I am not that familiar with Gretsch. Silver sealer and tags inside all intact in perfect condition. I don't think these drums were ever opened except to change a head. Stored for 40 years in soft cover bags!

When my friend gets back I will get more pics, close up and all. Pretty exciting.

Thanks for any and all info,Ed

Ed, what sizes is the Gretsch bass drum? It looks to be a 20" ? but not positive of that from that pic. the Slingerland kit has a artist snare drum with the other two drums in an 18" size $1800.00 $2000.00+

Hi Mark, It is 20". A stunning kit actually. No fade on the Gretsch but some on the Slingy snare.

Thanks for the reply,Ed

Buying both?

LOL!! I wish!! I have a 60s Slingy now, and a few Rogers, no Gretsch and no Ludwig. So I will look real hard at the round badge kit. The 18" Slingy is sweet though. I have NEVER seen one. I have a week to consider which. Money is obviously going matter. This is a great condition Gretsch kit so I imagine it will drive up the price. I don't know what they go for anymore. They have been all over the place.

Thanks,Ed

Weird non original claws on that Slingerland bass drum. There were quite a few Slingerland 18s sent out with metal rims on their "Jet" outfits that eventally got switched to regular BD hoops. That might explain those claws. I've seen more Slingerland 18s than any other brand, but still very few. Still...if the sets are in your budget try to get both. You won't lose $ on either.

Ah I see what you mean. Good eye. Yes in the catalogs I only see the outfit that is stackable with an 18" bass drum. Probably why I have never seen any as a regular offering. I'll have to ask about this next week. Still a rare bird in my view. I will take a head off and see inside. I was told these were from the original owner.

Thanks,Ed

I have a Slingy Modern Combo 18", non-original condition. Thanks to some detailed pics, and lots of help from the gentlemen here, I was able to make a determination. All holes had been filled and the inside painted white, but fortunately, there were "ghosts" left behind. I was also able to remove the paint on the bearing edge, making the ID easier. Re-wrapped, unoriginal t-rods and spurs (as I purchased it), it's definitely a player.

BTW, both very nice kits.
