Gretsch Cadillac Green snare on eBay... Last viewed: 4 hours ago

Yes - I totally agree - when I saw how the bids were listed I asked here about that because I've never seen it. I am however relatively new at eBay (2009 or so) and I don't know all the bidding rules/formats.

Also - I have never seen a Cadillac Green Gretsch snare from the 60's - let alone decked out like that = 'snap-in key holder. The holder probably is 60's. I've read where Gretsch made the Cadillac Green Gold plated kits from 54-58 - you can see the listing...and the catalog states Cadillac Green drum come only with gold hardware. But, I'm finding there were some exceptions.

but, anyone else think it's a bit fishy when a seller keep's bidder's privacy private? Hobbs

Anyone on the VDF snag this snare? Maybe someone with the initials: SM or MC? :)

If you don't feel comfortable coming forward, that's OK. It would just be nice to know that someone on VDF actually won the auction. Someone that actually respects the uniqueness and history of this drum.

Thanks,

Tim

MC (me) for a while, I was in the running until I checked with my good friend Steve Maxwell (he is ok with me telling everyone that he won the drum) just in case he had seen it also...he was also bidding so I backed off as all I was going for was a quick flip... I think the world was asleep on this one...Steve says it's the cleanest one that he has every seen or owned and you know that he can make that statement...he told me that the drum also has the original gold plated snare wires! It's going to his NYC store.

Outstanding! Glad to hear Steve snagged this one. What a great guy and a serious asset to drummers and drumming.

That's good news. I am guessing Steve wasn't going to let this one get away.

If I'm ever in NYC again, I am going to make it a point to visit his store.

Thanks,

Tim

I traded emails recently with Steve and he mentioned he 'snagged' this one - good to hear.

Curious about one thing....the snares. I was reseraching gold plating on the Cadillac Green Gretsch drums and I was told the snares were not plated....and sometimes the railmount was not plated.

Interesting that the snares on this drum was/is plated. Another surprise for me regarding Gretsch drums (lots of exceptions).

I'm thinking this drum is 60's ??? Anyone know for sure?
