Hi Folks

I recently won a nice 9x13 Gretsch tom on eBay (1953 3ply) - Midnight Blue Pearl wrap I think. It's been rewrapped.

I just unpacked it today and found that the inner plate of the Diamond tom mount is missing and there are four Fender Washers holding the plate on. There is an impression of the diamond plate on the inside so I know the drum had one. All my vintage Gretsch toms have the inner plate.

Does anyone here have just the INNER plate for this assembly?

Also...as an aside....the badge looks really fake. The badge was removed when it was rewrapped - I'm thinking it was replaced with this fakie looking brown paint I think badge. It has a new Daisy Upholstery tack too. If it bothers me too much I will replace it with the nice old badge I bought here on the Forum last year.

The drum is nice though....date stamp says May 11 1953....same year as my 16" Gretsch floor tom.....cool.

Any sign of the back plate?

There's one on eBay - a complete plate. I may just go ahead on that one unless you get back to be and you have one. I'd rather just buy an 'orphan' backplate rather than buying the complete one and making an 'orphan' out of that one if you know what I mean.

Unless.....I can sell the outside part to youEye Ball

It's not in good shape thought - needs rechrombing badly.

Hey Mikey,

I also need an inner diamond plate tom mount, but for Ludwig. Any chance you have one of those? I think the Gretsch and Ludwigs were the same size, right? Maybe you can fit that in the package you're already sending me? Let me know.
