Hi everyone,

I am new to this forum, never played professionally, only for recreation.

Please forgive any incorrect terminology.

I'll be glad to answeer questons or provide more pictures.

I have a set of Gretsch drums for sale I got from an old roommate in 1990 as payment for rent. They haver been set up in my house since then. Diagnosed with MS and can't really play much anymore.

Details:

- Gretsch octagonal badge, except for snare which has a square badge

- maple finish

- 6 ot 7 ply?

- silver metallic finish on inside

- 5 pieces

o bass drum 24” diameter, 18“ deep - Model #4269, Serial #123874

o floor tom 18” diameter, 16” deep - M# 4419, S#123123

o tom 16” diameter, 16” deep - M# 4454, S#123887

o tom 14” diameter, 12” deep - M# 4452. S#123879

o snare drum 14” diameter, 7” deep- M# 4155, S#140068

About 98% of the drum hardware is there -

One lug is missing from one side of the bass drum.

Some of hardware has “Gretsch” stamped on them, some doesn't.

Most are mostly in pretty good finish - not much tarnish, nicks, etc.

To my untrained eye, they look to be in pretty good, if not excellent shape.

Also have a “ghost” bass drum pedal,

Gretsh mount to place toms on top of bass drum.

Gretsh legs for floor tom.

Aside from drums, I also have:

- 2 pretty new looking Paiste high hat cymbals,

- high-hat hardware,

- some older crash and sizzle ride cymbals (none Zildjian)

- cymbal stands.

I'm in Chicago, and will ship if you pay for it.

I had them examined by someone knowledgeable a friend referred me to:

I'm thinking:

$400 for snare,

$400 for bass drum

$300 for floor tom

$300 for pair of concert toms

I'm willing to deal, sell as a kit, or piece by piece.

Let me 1st say Welcome to the forum, I am very sorry to hear that you have MS, my mother also has it and it is a terrible thing to encounter!! you gretsch kit is nice, the concert toms are a hard sell now in the modern age, good luck, and thank you for bring them to us!!!Clapping Happy2Cool1

Yes,and the price is ok for Gretsch gear.It seems to be still on top of the "holding their value"mountain...For the players that held onto those old Gretsch kits long ago...SMART MOVE!!:D

Welcome!

Sorry to hear about your troubles -- best of luck with the sale! Concert toms are indeed a hard sell these days, but those are lovely drums and I'm sure you'll find a taker before long. I could see someone turning those concert toms into double-headed toms and using them as floors. Or maybe you'll find a Phil Collins aficionado who's into that Gretsch concert tom sound. (I'm a Genesis nut myself and would love that kit, but I may be disowned if I bring home any more drums.)

Just a note -- you mention that the bass is missing a lug. From the photos, I don't see any missing lugs. I see a missing tension rod and claw -- is that what you're talking about?

Ludwig Keystone and B/O badge drums with serial numbers and date stamps,
Ludwig Standards from 1968-73, and
