Gretsch Drums Last viewed: 6 hours ago

I saw a Gretsch kit in a gold sparkle finish at Sam Ash. The kit is in very good condition and looks

to be all original.

Here's the low down....

8x12 round badge

9x13 round badge

5x14 round badge

14x14 rectangle badge

14x20 rectangle badge

Anyone have on idea on what they might be worth?

Thanks.

Hey JR. No ideas without pics. I'd still have a hard time pricing this out, as I'm not Mr Gretsch Drummer Guy. Not that I wouldn't want to be ... just don't happen to stay current with 'em. Would still love to see some pics, though.

What Would You Do

no way to say without pics

could be a mix match....could be factory matched

during the period of badge transition it was not uncommon for a kit to arrive at a retailer with round and stop sign badges

this would have been early 70s

also check for paper tags inside and serial numbers

can you get pics ?

Here's what I can see....

All toms are missing original bottom die cast hoops, the snare is missing the top.

Mufflers and tag missing on 12, tag missing on kick.

T-rods on resonant side of kick don't look original

Rail mount on kick is missing

Snare wrap looks a bit lighter than other drums.

The two mounted toms and snare are round badge.

The floor and kick are square badge.

No extra holes.

Wrap is tight, kit is clean and shiney.

One thing is clear, that if you can locate a stop sign badge 12", you got something that quite a few folks would be interested in. But even as it sits, it looks like at least $1200 to $1500 worth of gear no matter what. Right now, you'll find full round badge kits from the late '60's running around the $1700 - $2000 range and a stop sign black diamond pearl with a '50's era matching snare just went off on the Bay for $2k.

I will pick up this kit for anyone here interested in buying it and I would ship it to you. They want $1,499, plus I would need shipping cost, thanks.

The snare looks like it's also missing the bottom rim. That looks like a Slingerland stick saver not a Gretsch die cast. Seems to me that with all the missing parts $1,500 is a bit high but that's just me.
