Gretsch Emerald Green Pearl question Last viewed: 2 hours ago

Folks - I'm buying this kit tonight. Gretsch Emerald Green Pearl. I'm very excited, but I'm still a novice with vintage gear. Can you please tell me whether the tom mount has been changed out, and how big a deal that is? Any other issues? And can you also promise not to scoop it our from under me ? :) 3-piece, 12/16/20.

Thank you!

Tom

Yes thats not factory, are you getting the stands with this kit too ? As long as the price isn't insane I'd still gladly own them, one of my fav colors.

Thanks for your response. How's $1,000 sound for the three drums only? Appreciate your thoughts!

If you're getting the stands with it? I'd try $800.00 at the seller. If these are not a kit to use as a flip sale for you and a keeper kit to play. then 1k would be more palatable.

That's a gorgeous kit. Good luck with it.

I know absolutely nothing about Gretsch, but if it's similar to the emerald green kit on ebay, $1000 looks good to me.

That's a cool color that was only in production for a short time so they are hard to find. I'd say the price is probably fair due to that relative rarity. The tom mount has been changed to, it looks like, a Pearl model. The plate on the bass drum may still be original but the rest of it isn't. It's somewhat unfortunate, particularly the bracket on the tom, but a fairly common occurrence since the original factory mounts were so lacking. I'm sure what's there works much better than the original but that probably will still have a slightly negative effect on the value of the set as compared to one that was all original.

Looks like the original BD tom mount, the spade on the tom has been deleted w/carriage bolts and a Pearl-style "RIMS" mount on the top rim.At least as non invasive as you can be.

I couldn't see that Pearl iso mount on my phone so that's a good thing. No big holes added to the tom. Since it has the base for the double mount this set probably had a 13" tom as part of it originally. Those metal bass drum hoops are probably original too.

The tom mount has been changed to a Gretsch RIMS type mount. It was originally a double spade mount. The second tom was "lost" while they were on consignment at Mike's drum shop in Santa Barbara. So, the mounting hardware is a modern Gretsch post mount which fits the original bass drum mount. Gretsch "RIMS" type suspension mount. Gretsch bracket. No extra hole,s and much more solid and adjustable then the awful double spade setup.Plus, the suspension mount does sound better. I've used it both with a snare stand, or the mount. I prefer it on the mount. Have the original spade diamond plate, and 2/3 of the post mount, also. The bass hoops *are* original, as I had posted. Ugly, but that's what Gretsch used. They kinda grow on you. Plus, they really hold tuning well. Heads fit a little tight, but it's a vintage Gretsch. They all do. And, $1000 is the absolute bottom line. Only because I wouldn't have to ship them. Shoulda just called me. Coulda come and played them. You've got my number.......
