This is simply a fantastic set of drums......!! I'd have a hard time leaving them with the kids, but that's the selfish part of me for sure.... Hopefully they learn to respect the fine instrument they will be playing!!

Regarding the aluminum stock, I found a seller on ebay out of either El Paso or Las Cruces that had bulk amounts. I contacted him and he cut the exact size I needed and emailed me when he had posted a BIN auction just for me. Think I got two leg replacements delivered for about $8.00!!! Polished them on the bench grinder and they looked like chrome!!

I found it at our local hardware store. Find an older independent store and look for the metal displays. I looked at Home Depot and they did not have any.

Props to Thornbeck, for not letting greed and envy steal those drums from the kids! Just because they are kids, doesn't mean that they shouldn't have a chance to appreciate something different. Maybe the reason kids today have a lot of bad habits is because they pick them up from watching their parents and other adults trying to beat the system and get over on others.

How did you fix the wrap issue on the floor tom?

I carefully cut the section that was pushed down by the drum head with a sharp razor. Placed the piece in a bowl, poured boiling water into the bowl, let it set for a couple of minutes, took out the piece and slowly moulded it back so it would fit back on the shell. Once it was sort of flat, I placed it between two damp towels and ran a hot iron over the towels. It was pretty flat afterwards. I used 3M cement and clamped it back in place. It's not perfect, but the new head fit back on and there isn't a bare spot where you can see the shell.

Some of you may remember this thread from 1 year ago. I'm happy to report it's still in use and in great condition. My son is now in high school, but they used the kit for their winter concert.

Here is a picture of my son on set and the Percussion Ensemble playing "Linus and Lucy by Vince Guaraldi". What a perfect song for these drums. They sounded great.
