Gretsch Question Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Hi All,

I'm new to this site, but have been into vintage drums, on and off, for around 20 years. I recently picked up what I think is a mid sixties Gretsch Name Band kit. It's configuration is 22 x 14, 16 x 16, 13 x 9 and a matching 14 x 5 1/2 snare. The finish is blue sparkle. The two toms and the snare have silver interiors with paper tags and 5-digit serial numbers within three thousand of each other. The bass drum also has a silver interior but no tag. All drums are 6 ply. The blue sparkle finish is in very good condition (not enough to suspect a re-wrap) ans all drums match. Is this a franken-kit or could this have been sold this way originally? Thanks in advance for any responses.

Michael

Not sure about the tags thing; I remember reading something about earlier (late 50's early 60's) kits that may or may not have had tags, even though they could've been part of the same kit - thanks Gretsch. That said, that is a wonderful-looking rig. Enjoy!!
