It was made only as a gimmick for the 2014 Namm Gretsch display stand. One of the 27 various Custom snares offered to dealers. I think the dealer who bought this one also drew the short straw..CheersJohn

27 Custom snares. So, there you have it! Not many built, so can be considered rare. I guess if you're a die-hard Gretsch collector, this might be a "must have" drum.

As far as the "57" snare drum, yes, I do have one in my collection, but only because I got it for a really good price!!

Just found this thread. Saw these at NAMM only after I texted my buddy to see if he was working at the Fender booth. He said that he didn't do NAMM on Saturdays, but told me I should go check out the Gretsch snare drums he was commissioned to build. My friend is one of Fender's custom shop builders and he told me that Gretsch approached him to do the "vintage aged" look in some drums. I guess he did the inside out ones too.

Its better to have people think you're an idiot, than to open your mouth and prove them wrong, unless you doubt yourself then speak away....
