gretsch round badge 12 14 20 rewrap w/ 1 extra hole... what would u pay? Last viewed: 1 hour ago

hi

i've found a seller with a gretsch round badge kit, it is a rewrapped set with one extra hole (hidden under the diamond plate tom mount) that has been filled. the interiors have been repainted with silver sealer. other then that, it is in excellent condition and complete with all original parts (mufflers, lugs, ft legs and even the stock cymbal L arm).

the seller is asking for best offer, what do u think it's worth?

if its too much for me i will advise him to post the kit here in the for sale section so everyone can get a shot at it.

thanks in advance

I think a fair price would be $700.00. Being a rewrap makes it a players kit.

If it were not a rewrap it would be in the $3000 to$4000 range, so I think $700 might be a little insulting. It is to me as a player.

1000 is top dollar, regardless how much he put in it. Gretsch that have been re-wrapped have a much lower value. Old hurts aside, this is top dollar.

It depends on the rewrap. If done professionally, then maybe $1400. Very nice RB 6 ply 20-12-14 rewraps with no extra holes, everything else original, go for around $1800. An extra hole knocks it down maybe $200. Repainted interiors knocks it down another $200.

The parts alone go for big money: The 14x14 shell is worth $500, the badges are worth $250, the 4 diecast rims are $200, the BD rail, T's and Claws, hoops, and spurs are a minimum of $300. Legs are worth $100, tension rods and lugs at least $150, 4 diamond mounts are $60, Pratt muffler is $50, 4 mufflers is $60. BD and small tom shells are around $100. What are we up to? Over $1700.

Thanks,

Bill

And, again, I believe the East coast is about 50% higher priced for Gretsch kits than the West coast is.

I agree...with ebay auctions I find that most Ludwig bidders tend to be on the West coast, and most Gretsch bidders on the East coast. There also seems to be an unusually high amount of interest in Gretsch RB in the Chicago area.
