Gretsch round badge kit w/ 16" bass drum Last viewed: 45 minutes ago

Hey guys,

Anyone ever come across an original kit? I read on Brian Blade's Wikipedia page that Gretsch did produce a few kits in the RB era with a 16" bass drum. Anyone know how approx many they made?

The bass drum on Brian's kit is a converted 16x16 floor tom, it's not an original 16" bass drum. Not sure who wrote the wiki article, but I know the guy who made the kit for Brian.

I know of 2 RB kits with original 12x16 bass drums, and one with a 14x16 bass drum, so 3 total. No idea how many were made, but it couldn't have been very many!

Thanks,

Bill

This kit with the 16" was custom made for Elvin Jones by Gretsch for a rehearsal studio in NYC. Sweet.

Remember, "back in the day" you could order anything you wanted and they would do it for you!

Cool1

Never play it the same way once.
