Gretsch Snare - Need help identifying Last viewed: 6 hours ago

I picked up this snare and have never seen this badge before. It is not in the Gretsch Book. Mike Curotto has never seen it before. It is a 3 ply maple drum.

I have seen the badge before on a similar drum. I noted that there was a 1914 patent date on the throw.

Collecting information about the following for ongoing research projects:
Gretsch drums with serial numbers,
Ludwig Keystone and B/O badge drums with serial numbers and date stamps,
Ludwig Standards from 1968-73, and
Ludwigs with paper labels from 1971-72

Nice one!

I've seen that badge online - maybe on that very drum. It's not listed in The Gretsch Drum Book. By the look of the drum I'd say 1920's

Thanks for the replies. I looked at the throw off and it say "PAT.PEN." The 1912 catalog showed a similar drum, but says the shell is solid maple.

Art deco font. That says 20's or 30's to me, and the construction says 20's. In 1914 the font style would likely still have been art nouveau.
