I picked this up a few days ago..........they're in the mail. I see they're listed in the 66 Catalog I have. I've never seen them in person. They looked too cool to pass up....me being a Gretsch guy-n'all. I may put some calfhide on them....we'll see after they arrive.

Gary Gretsch Made those timbales since the mid 40's. They were very popular back then till larger sizes started to be made. I had a few of them nice buy enjoy them.

I'd love to get a chance to look at and play some Gretsch Timbales from the 40's. The catalogs I have access to don't show them that far back but I do see them in the mid to late 50's. They have the bd t-rod claws that look more like...or are....the fawcet style....where the ones on my drum look like the 60's bd t-rod claws.

Here You have Jimmy La Vaca playing a set 1940's [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZnQZ04Nvs8[/ame]

I am looking for a photo of set I had the claws are different Than ones you have. They are 1950's Model yours are a bit newer. After your set they put regular drum rims last models they did.

Here also a few photos including my set not claws totally different and lugs on the copper plated model they also made. Those are 40's model
