I see Brian Dunne uses a cross-stick block (Yamaha Groove Wedge www.musiciansfriend.com/drums-percussion/yamaha-russ-miller-groove-wedge or similar product). I love the cross-stick sound on my Ludwig Standard with Gibraltar wood hoops. I assume the wedge would produce a similar tone. Does anyone here use a cross-stick block? Like it, don't like it? Comments?

I heard Stanton Moore using one in a video. I wouldn't run out and buy one, but it did make a nice woody click. I'm happy with the stick-click I get from my snares. They're all quality drums and if you tap the rim close to a tension rod, they all produce a nice solid stick-click. I'll be curious to hear what users of the Groove Wedge, or wood batter hoops have to say.
Good question!

It'll just add to set up and tear down time. Sidestick between two lugs does it for me.
