Mike,If i recall your Combo set is a blue vista right?..I have a 5 pc in red vista 12,13,16.22 with classic lugs and a C.O.S. snare drum. But when this one came up on auction i did post a word about it.I won it for 61.00+ 41.00 shipping. This one has the plastic lugs on it iam not sure what shell iam hopeing wood shell but it could be that plastic type of shell too. With the plastic lugs this would date it 1980 its one of the first ones made before Ludwig change the lugs to classic one's that was in mid 1980....Mikey
I had one of these a while ago. Neat idea, but poor in execution. Its pretty much a display or a toy. You can't use it as a drum at all! The shell doesn't hold up to more than loose tensioning and the lugs will crack under anything more than the same light tensioning. If Ludwig executed it with better quality plastics, then maybe....
With that said, it is somewhat a rarity these days and makes a good collectors item. Valuable, not so much. Collectible yes.
A little pick up help? Is this the drum in Iowa city?
Cool drum even if you cant really play it. I have a Luwdwig Educator set with that same Standard style badge. It has plastic lugs so I dont play it, but it makes a nice show peice.

yep, blue vista combos. my kit has the original acrolite that came with it. my kit had plastic lugs. i tucked them away and put some classics on it about a year ago.
i was thinking that all of these combo snares were that plastic material though. thats a fine price on that one.
