I bought a Roland HD-1 (hey I know...Blasphemy!) from a local guy for $150. I live in a duplex and haven't been able to play at home. Aside from having a tricky time learning the pedals...I'm having a blast!!

I know a LOT about e-drums, but I can't say I am familiar with the HD-1.

E-drums are good for keeping up your chops, but dynamics DO get lost if you don't get onto a real kit on occasion. Practising on my beloved DrumKat and TrapKat all the time got me booted from my last band (I ended up just playing WAY, WAY, WAY too loud).

If you want somewhat more realistic feeling hi hat pedals, I like the Hat Kat (I have one for sale if you'd be interested).

Yeah- I'm THAT guy!!!
