This is one of my latest "Vintage drum" finds. I picked it up just before Christmas in a local antique shop. Not much of a drum.....but it is a drum none the same. I bought it because when I first saw it sitting there I thought some of us might have gotten our very first taste of a "drumming life" with something like this under the Christmas tree. I put it under our tree along with some other cool old drums and it did spark a few nostalgic conversations over the holidaysx-mas2

Hey....and it's MADE IN USA

Cool find!!! It definitely would make a great conversation piece...Recently I saw an old Disney drum on ebay with the skins busted on it...You never know, these type of drums might be well sought after one day.........

Cheers

Cool drum! Definitely a toy. There was never really ever any intent for these to be "real" drums. Yes, like you suggest, these were just s a cute gift to give a toddler.

I collect "juvenile" or "junior" types of drums -which were one level higher than the tin toy drums, so I run across many of them in search of what I'm after.

Value for your drum is in the artwork....which appears to be 20's-30's era

Thanks

I bought the drum purely as a Christmas ornament and to have in the drum room......more drum the better.

I have run across some really cool old "childrens" drums over the years though - but haven't bought any. One kit I saw in a drum store a few years abo was on display on a very high shelf out of reach (of children and adults alike). I asked about the price but it was not for sale. Fun to check all that stuff out.

Cool drum! It reminds me of my very first drum--a similar model, but with Smurfs on it. (This was the early 80s.) My dad was playing Santana records for me from the time I was a toddler, so it was inevitable that I'd be asking for a toy drum by the time I was five years old. Within another five years, I had a practice pad and a copy of "Stick Control", and five years after that, I had the real thing. Great memories.

Kits:
1950s Gretsch Name Band in Midnight Blue Pearl (13/16/22/14sn)
1965/66 Ludwig Club Dates rewrapped in Black Diamond Pearl (12/15/20)

I have a cool drum like that. It is a "Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs" drum probably from the late 40's or 50's or something. Pretty cool. Mine is missing the tension assembly and heads though. Just the hoops and shell. Made out of tin or something????
