would it be sensible to use just a Ludwig UFO case to ship a snare? I've never had one so I'm not sure how strong they are. Seller says the parcel would be too big to send with the case in a box but I wondered if the case could be the box. That's what they were designed for.

The UFO case would certainly provide good support and protection for the drum, but I would still put the case in an appropriate sized box with maybe a layer or two of bubble wrap and "peanuts" stuffed in any voids. I would not ship a snare in the alone. Just my :2Cents:

thanks for that. It's just that shipping with the case bumps the shipping price up quite a bit, especially to this side of the world and I wondered if the case was sufficient on its own. Maybe not though.

Is it coming to you from the U.S.? You might ask the seller to research various carriers (DHL, UPS, FedEx, etc.) for their advice. The case would add weight for sure.
