Hi everyone i am trying to identify a rough date this drum would have been made, sadly it has no serial number, also any idea on how much one would expect to pay for this, as i am only a potential owner.
Will post pictures soon

Thanks for that info just checked the company started in 1852, so i have some sort of start on it, now. The guy is looking for 600 for it not sure if the price is good? what would you think
Provenance is everything with anything that old. Too many variables determine value. Is it a military drum? One that was possibly used in battle? Of course condition is paramount. This is the kind of item that calls for some serious research before making an offer. There are a few dedicated military drum sites that may help to shed some light on the drum's history.
If nothing else, it's a fascinating historical object.

They started in 1852, but these drums could have been made into the late 20's. The price may depend on dating the drum. I believe $600 is way out of line, unless it has some provenance to an earlier period, a military regiment, or some special event. Sellers commonly exaggerate the value & age of rope drums.
Thanks for this guys i will have to do some more research, before making a decision
