Heads: Ludwig vs AmbassadorX vs Emperor Last viewed: 2 minutes ago

Hi guys

I have put some Ludwig heads on my Ludwig drums. It were the Ludwig 'heavy' heads.

I loooooved the sound....only Remo heads fit better on my floortom......so I changed to Remo. Now I have some Ambassadors. They sound of course very nice (like Ambassadors do :)) , but I would also like to have the heavier sound like I got with the Ludwigs.

So now I'm doubting: Should I try the Ambassador X heads or should I just change to Emperors?

Any experience with this heads on 3ply Ludwigs? Or maybe other suggestions?

thanks a lot!

I can't comment on the sound of AmbassadorX on Ludwigs, but I have them on my 3 ply Slingerlands, which I use as more of a rock kit, with lower tuning. For that application I love them. They seem a little more resonant than an Emperor, but lower pitch and more durable than a standard Ambassador.

Standard Ambassadors do, as you mentioned, always sound great, but I'd say give the AmbassadorX a try next time around. :2Cents:

Thanks a lot! Well I have to do some rock recordings now. So the Ambassadors sound a bit too light....I always try to tune them much too low.

So maybe Ambassador X is a good solution?
