Hello! 1965 ludwig club date champagne sparkle Last viewed: 39 minutes ago
Hello!, and WELCOME to the VDF!, and ...
I will say that you need to put your pics up as attachments here. That is the format we like to use, and for many reasons. With attachments your pics can be studied one by one and placed into the database for use many months from now. Picture sharing services and links all eventually go ... dead. Then when someone looks at your thread/posts, there's nothing there! If you can get those pics up as attachments it'll be easier to help you out as well!

I've been trying to add my pictures as attachments. The upload always fails...

It was a random buy but seemed liked a good deal. Plus I had a dream I would be in a band and the drummer had a vintage ludwig in champagne sparkle. For some reason, I think that this is the most appealing drum finish but my opinion anyways. I don't play drums and actually I bought this for a band I'm forming. I met the seller with the mindset of buying just the shells for his asking price, but he was very very nice to me. He included everything in the photos, such as hardware, cymbals, stands, and snare. He even gave me mutes so I can play at my apartment. Glad I didn't have to deal with shipping most of all...I'm very happy to have a complete set and that gave me such a great deal. I love this set and most importantly it has the sound I want. A dry yet boomy and jazzy vibe. Very classy stuff, doesn't have a modern punch, it's laid back and sloppy joe.Things I know about it so far:It's a 1965/1966 Ludwig Club Date (could be someone else?)No stamps or datesThis has the double tom config (I usually only see one mounting tom with most ludwigs, does anyone here like the double tom set up?)Each drum has keystone badges and a damping switch (which is the coolest thing ever, I don't see these on modern stuff)20 inch bass drumThe bigger mounting tom dates to 1968I think the bass drum was originally set for a mounting rail but professionally altered for a double tom config (mounting rail holes are plugged)The hoops were sanded offFloor top missing finishThose are british Premier lokfast stands (possibly from the 60's)Snare stand is vintage ludwig has 70's era logoHi hatt stand and bass drum pedal are ludwig have 60's era logoI have a rogers piccoloo snare, it sounds good but I'm looking to replace for a regular snare with matching finishHardware on bass drum seems to be replacedFront bass drum head is 60's ludwig but has a hole cut out (personally I don't like it that much but I'm sure it has its reason)Cymbals are fine. I'm sure my drummer can bring his/her cymbals I am looking to restore in it's mighty glory. I have a guy here in austin that will help out with the floor tom rewrap and refinishing the bass drum hoops. I'm looking for premier cymbal wingnuts because what I have are not locking in. I'm also going to get matching snare and I need a ride cymbal. I think I would want to create throne or something classy to sit your ass on while you playAnyways hope you dig it. Maybe you guys can tell me more about it.
Cool kit. You seem to have most of the info nailed down. As far as I'm aware the Clubdate only came with one mounted tom so the 13" tom has been added. Some like two up, some like one up, it's a personal thing. I'm a one up player so would ditch the 13". Currently you have those 2 toms set up like a true guitarist. Normally they are set up small to large but if it works then cool.
Rewrapping the floor tom to match shouldn't be a problem and finding a matching snare will be easy enough as it's a common finish. The matching snare options would be a 6 lug Pioneer and the more expensive 8 lug Jazz Festival. Your kit may have come with an aluminum Acrolite originally. The Acrolite is a great drum and easy to find. The Rogers snare looks to be an import model from well after their glory days.
The cymbals could be good but you might have to post photos of them showing the engraved logo so we can identify them. Probably Zildjian Avedis from the 60s at a guess although the hats look to be of a sound edge design, maybe Paiste?
The Premier Lokfast stands are very late 60s into the 70s. Absolutely my favorite cymbal stands. Which wingnuts are causing problems?
The front bass drum head has a port hole to stick a mic inside. Some prefer them without but in my experience if you are gigging it you may find engineers prefer a ported bass drum. The bass drum hardware looks original to me except for the double tom mount of course.
