Hello to all

I am new on this forum and would like to say hi to everyone and tell you why I'm here. I have been the proud owner of a very unique kit with a genuinely important history, since I purchased it in 1976. It is a Premier resonator kit which was custom built for Phil Collins around 1974 (I purchased the kit from Mike Kidson (a very good friend) who was PCs drum tech from 1975 until the END!) and crosses over the period when Peter Gabriel left and PC took over on lead vocals (I can still hear the despairing cries of fans who probably still think that was when Genesis ceased to exist!). I have been using this same kit now since I bought it and am now looking to giving it a bit of TLC and possibly selling it on, as I am now retired from the live gig scene.

The one main problem I have is that the 14" x 14" tom tom needs a new resonator shell as the original one split. Can anyone advise me the best way to do this please? This drum along with the 20" x 14" bass drum are unique as far as I know because Premier never produced resonators in these sizes commercially.

Anyway, I will have a good look around now I'm here and if anyone can help me with the resonator shell problem that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

A piece of rock history! Thanks for sharing and love the drums. The drummer for this Genesis tribute band might be an interested buyer. http://www.genesistribute.com/ I've seen them a couple times. Great band who takes their music very seriously. And I love Phil Collins' Genesis ... no groans from me :)

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Thanks for your kind comments and for referring me to the tribute band drummer. However, since I got it all out to clean it up I have come to my senses and decided not to sell it (whatever was I thinking!?). When its all packed away in its cases I can't see it, but when I get it out and set it up... (lump comes to throat :o ), you get the picture. I have owned this kit since 1976 and as a massive Genesis fan from the very beginning, it has special value! I am even going to book a rehearsal room and play it, so how about that Cool Dude .

Nice kit! Thanks for posting.

As far as the shell goes,is it the inner ply that split?

I have seen threads about replacement/repair concerning the inner ply,I can't remember where,as I remember there are a few people that repair them, maybe Noonan drums?

You may try at Mike Dolbear drum forum, there are many Premier enthusiasts there and I think that is where I have read the most refurb /repair threads about the resonators drums.

Welcome to the forum.

Yes the inner shell split when I needed to remove it, The bass drum inner shell is in a precarious state too so I dare not try to remove this. Thanks for the tip BTW. I will try Mike Dolbear cheers.
