Hello from Cyprus and Merry Christmas to all!
Last Friday I got a mid 70s Slingerland Drum set with Chrome Wrap. The drum set is 14X5 Stainless Steel Snare and 8X12 and 9X13 Toms 14X22 Bass Drum and 16X16 Floor Tom.
The drum badge is the black with silver from Niles Illinois USA.
Also got the Original Slingerland Hardware Cymbal Stands, Pedal and Hi hat Stand. The Drum Set was stored in a garage and the sad thing is that the Chrome Wrap has some spots of rust.
My first decision was to re wrap the whole drum set but as soon as I saw that the Wrap is metallic I made second thoughts for trying and restore the Original Wrap. I am thinking that removing the Chrome Wrap will affect the sound of the drums set.
The thing that am excited about is that the lugs and all the other chrome parts (rings, lugs, legs, tensions etc) effortlessly are becoming good as new. I used a sabian cymbal cleaner on the chrome parts and removing it with a dump clothe the surprise was very very big. Shinny Happy Slingy Snare. Mallet Player2
I will upload photos of the restoration project.
