Help Identify this Grestch Finish Last viewed: 1 hour ago

From Gerald Sterken

Great Job Purdie! Do you ever repaint duco finishes for other people?

Oh man, no, and I've been asked by friends that it's hard for me to say no to. If I screw up on my own drums, that's one thing. I can always go back and fix it, or learn to live with a learning mistake. I'm not too keen on screwing up on somebody else's kit though. Don't get me wrong, I'm a careful person. I don't move on to the next step on any job until I've got the step I'm working on, perfect. I simply don't have the extra $ to replace somebody else's property if things go awry. I'm not a 'business' and I don't have insurance to cover those kinds of losses. Just being practical. I don't mind selling the kits I've refurbished, I'm proud of my work. But at least I know that the ones I do sell came out perfect-a-mundo.

Thanks for the kind words about my work. Means a lot to me coming from my peers.

John

Too many great drums to list here!

I remember that burgundy project, came out looking awsome. Looking at it, it has the same lugs as the OP and it`s looking like it has only one odd drum now. Where all Grestch BD lugs slightly different then the toms ?

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

Pretty sure the BD lugs shared the same mold as the 16 & 18" FT lugs. The smaller toms and Floor Show snares had the smaller lugs. (I've been wrong before, tho'.)
