Help identifying a model name for a 1960 Ludwig Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Hey there, I have recently inherited a drumset from my wifes father. I have two questions about the kit that maybe someone can help me out with.

1) How can i decipher a model lame (ie legacy, legacy classic) for the set, or did they even have model names back then? the serial number is 711755 with a keystone badge. I looked on the Ludwig site at the serial number page and it says the kit was made between spring and fall of 1969. the finish on the set is like the black oyster pearl except its white.

2) the set is in great condition, and im looking for an approximate value. Im not looking to sell the set im just curious as to what vintage gear like this will goes for. Im only interested in the value of the shell pack with the snare, he was an avid cymbal collector and has an entired office of them so I already know the value of those. my father in law replaced all of the hardware on the shells and there are no scratches on the finish. the kit has one tom mounted to the bass drum, it looks like maybe a 12", two floor toms, the kick drum obviously, and a snare. here are some pics she sent me from texas on her phone so they are a little blurry but you get the idea. the other floor tom is still in the closet.

Thanks! :)

ROTO-TOMS!!! Cool.

Looks like a nice kit. Search the site for archived Ludwig cats and you should get the model name. As far as value, there is a different link on this site for value requests.

Your ludwig kit drum wise is called super classic's, the color appears., bad pics so this can change with better pics but the color is SBP Sky blue pearl, without the sixes and full kit in front of us we can't give you the Name the kit was called, but you've got a jazz festival snare drum, and what looks to be another snare drum that is a supraphonic, get the sizes and better pics please!!

Looks like white marine pearl. And the serial numbers are going to be on each individual drum, so there would be a different number for every drum. The rack tom looks more like a 9x13 to me but tough to tell from your picture. In other words, to get a more definitive answer you need to provide more information.

The cymbal in the ride position has the look of an istanbul K Zildjian cymbal.

I agree on the WMP. And the bass almost looks like a 20 with 13 and 16 toms...
