Help identifying CG Conn set specifics Last viewed: 48 minutes ago

I have a set that I am going to sell, but I don't really know much about it other than the story I got from the previous owner. The badge is black on silver to create silver lettering. See attachments for a look at that. The drums are wood shells with wood hoops. The snare and bass are eight lugs, the floor tom/snare? is six lugs. I am not sure what hardware I am missing(other than one of the legs) because I don't know what it came with. I also have a cymbal that attaches to the cymbal arm in the hardware picture.

Now for the story I was given by the previous owner. He recalled purchasing the set in the late 30's and playing gigs with his band at dances during World War II. Its current condition was the condition in which I received them from him.

What do I have here and what is an estimated value in its current condition. Thanks for any help in advance.

That's a cool old set.

I have an old CG Conn metal snare drum that I tried to get some info on a while back.

All I got were crickets.

I emailed the "experts" and couldn't even get a response.

You will probably get a ton of responses. LoLoLoLo

Sorry I'm no more help than that.

I can say that even though CG Conn stuff doesn't seem to attract the attention of "serious" collectors it is still a cool old piece of history.

Good luck with them

Those old CG Conn drums have that Levon vibe going on. Just looking at them makes me look for Virgil Caine waitin' for the Robert E Lee.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

Not really a set. They didn't have sets per se back then. Snare and bass could have come together. The other drum is a marcher. I'd sell them indi individually and expect $250 - 300 total. Not a huge market for single tension stuff.

Thanks for the replies guys! I have been told the same thing about the drums by a high school band teacher here in town who collects drums. He said that he didn't know much about the brand and didn't know many people that collected Conn drums. I wasn't expecting they would be valuable, just to fill in more about the drums as a whole. Thanks again!
