Help identifying my snare please... Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Hi,

I have my father's snare which I believe to be a Ludwig from the 30's. I'm certainly no expert and have only been able to compare photos to come to that conclusion. It seems that the clamps for the rings are identical to Ludwigs of the period, but Leedy seem similar too.

There's no name, mark, or SN anywhere, except for the name on the skins. It's nickel or chrome plated and measures 5.5" x 14"

Photos are here: http://ehydrant.com/drum/

Can anyone help me identify it and get more info?

Thank you!

Thanks vintagemore2000.

I guess it's older than I thought. I've had a hard time nailing it down because the tensioner seems different than any I've seen. Do you know how to really nail down the year? Any idea why there's absolutely no name on it? Any thoughts on how to determine the value?

Thanks again!

No nothing there. I neglected to mention that the bars at the ends of the snares (underneath) say "snappi snares". Is that a clue to anything?

Thanks.
