Help identifying slingerland 18x6.5 drum Last viewed: 2 hours ago

Hello,

I just found this beauty of a slingerland drum at a garage sale for 5 bucks and I couldn't turn it down.

I am quite a drum enthusiast, but I have no idea what this drum was originally designed for.

It's a slingerland 18x6.5 looks maple with wide reinforcement rings. Champagne gold looking sparkle.

Inside has a stamp that says "MAY 65".

Another separate stamp says "P".

The hoops bend slightly in.

There is some strange hardware that I don't know if it was originally there. It was owned by the St. Paul public schools so maybe they rigged something? There are two eye bolts and something that looks like a butt plate, but I don't know how it would hold snare wires.

There is no throw off on it.

It looks like a normal designed drum, it's just the demeansions that throw me off.

Serial number is 64539

Anybody know what this is???

I'm still trying to find out how to post photo from my iphone.

Marching band drum maybe? The 65 SL catalog here shows a 6.5" x 18" "tenor-scotch" drum on the marching page.
