Help IDing a Slingerland Last viewed: 4 hours ago

Hi,

I have a slingerland drum I purchased for $125 and Im having trouble IDing it.

The owner said it was an alloy snare drum, in competition to the acro.

It has a niles black and gold 57000 sn

Rapid Strainer 5th model

Stick savers and single felt muffler with slingerland knob

NO additional holes

Everything looks slingerland to me, If the badge is correct, is between 62 and 65, but the shell is weird

notice the weld marks on the inside...

and the gourmet is beat up on the inside, indicating a fake badge...maybe maybe not

I played and and it sounds fine, i would not be disappointed if it were a fake but I would like to know.

I googled "alloy slingerland" and nothing came up. HELP!!!

Looks like a Slingerland aluminum-shelled student model drum. Later versions of this drum have sort of a horizonal ribbed "corduroy" texture to the shell.

Thanks for the reply, did all student models have a crude welding spots?

other than that the drum looks and plays great!

Thanks everyone!

Good chance it is real and original,I had one of the the later ribbed ones, the throw was different, and I believe mine was an 8 lugger.I have only seen one other one,and only remember a couple of these coming up in the forums.

As you were previously Informed this is a Aluminum student model, and yes they all have that crude weld inside the shell, they all have the ribbed outside shell, also they came in an 8 lug and a 10 lug model. this is a pic of my 10 lug model which also has brass rims on it,. stock!! this is a 60's model, and they are very underrated snare drums, they are supurb sounding drums, they are very much the equal to a ludwig acrolite snare drum!
