Help in dating Ludwigs Last viewed: 2 hours ago

Hi, new member here.

One of the reasons that I joined this forum was to meet vintage drum players and collectors and to get your take(s) on the vintage drum scene.

I also had another reason and that was to learn more about my Ludwig Stainless steel set and start restoring bits and pieces that have been neglected through the years.

Okay so for my first assignment is to learn when they might have been made.

The previous owner said the 70's.. cool. So based on the serial numbers stamped on various pieces, I thought that I could figure this out based on the serial number helper page on this forum. For some reason, I cannot find a sequence that starts with my numbers anywhere. Or I'm too dumb to see it in front of me.

I'm not going to list all numbers but as an example my numbers start with 1661056, 1662052 etc, etc. and badges are blue/olive with points on the badges (not round corners).

Can somebody help me figure this out?

Thanks much!

Peace

If you go up to the top of the page, and click on the pop-up menu for "Vintage Drum Identification", and click on "serial numbers", then you will see that your sequence falls into the (likely) range of 1978-79. This would also correspond with the pointed-corner B/O badges -which ended at the end of 1979.

O,

See it just takes somebody with better smarts than I to point me in the right direction.

I do now see what you are talking about. I was looking at the numbers expecting to see my numbers written. I see the range now.

Thanks for helping me date my 32 year old set.

No problem, man. Sounds like a cool kit. Post some pictures if you get a chance, please.
