Ben, I have a 10 x 14 downstairs, but it has Ludwig Standard lugs on it or I would have responded for you. It's kind of an odd sized drum if you think about it. Not a whole lot of guys are going to have one laying around to measure. Don't take the lack of response personally. Just not many 10 x 14's around.

John, If you mean like Standard/rockers type lug, the hole spacing is the same as large classic lugs. a measurement from edge to drilled holes would be the ticket. If you mean small classics, game off. Thanks

It's -exactly- 1" from the bearing edge to the top edge of my Standard lugs. (Not from edge to hole, from edge to top of lug base.) The shell was factory drilled (1950's WFL) so the measurement is 'factory.'

Ben, after i draw my vertical line, I measure 1" from the bearing edge and then I place the white plastic gasket from a vistalite kit classic lug on the line and use it to get my hole marks. Center the vertical line in both holes of the template and you're square! I dbl. check that the lug is dead vertical before I do any drilling.

Measure twice, cut once...

Thanks John, but I still don't know what you mean by "standard" lugs. Seems to rule out Ludwig standard/rockers style since I don't believe WFL made them yet. By standard, do you mean small classic lug?

distance from edge helps. From there, my layout method is different than yours. No worries.

I found several photos online of 10x14 toms with large classic lugs, measured proportions from the pics and did the math. This green kit looks like 2" between lugs and the rest like 1.7" between lugs. Close enough for this project.
