Help me date this Hollywood Ace Radio King Last viewed: 5 hours ago

Loading...

I was hoping someone could help me out dating this Hollywood Ace RK snare for me. I bought this recently and it's in very good shape, especially in light of the fact that someone had spray painted it white at some point!

Also worth noting is that the badge and eyelet have been polished to a sheen. I'm guessing that this happened during the restoration process of removing the paint from the shell. I was told that the badge was painted as well.

It sounds great. I love single ply snares. Thank you in advance for your help!

Thank you! What price range do these normally sell for? I'm curious to see if I paid a good price.

I'm a total radio king freak, that's a wonderfull drum there, congrats. If you haven't already can I recommend getting the puresound special extended snares, I've put them on mine and it's realy improved the sound and sensitivity. As far as I can see LA music and vintagedrumyard (in the UK) are the only places that still have them, they are damn expensive though, but worth it.

I love the jazz era

Man what a nice looking drum. I'd love to have one like it someday. Someday!! I'm no help on value but see nice snares like this on ebay for $1000+ most days. Don't see too many sell so I'm interested on prices as well. Yours looks like a 8x14?

Glenn.

Not a guru just havin fun with some old dusty drums.

Sorry for the late reply. It is an 8x14 single ply maple. I paid $600. I know I probably didn't get as much of a bargain as I hoped for, but I am extremely happy nonetheless.

Mike that isn't bad at all, The larger sizes just don't bring the resale money the smaller sizes do.
