Help Me Out Slingy Guys Last viewed: 45 minutes ago

I happened upon a Slingerland set yesterday at my local pawn shop (they were closed at the time so I took what pictures I could). I don't know much about Slingerland drums but the info I have been able to find puts the drums circa 1980 and would be 5 ply shells I think. Sizes look to be 13, 16, 22. Chrome wrap is ok with the usual rust and pitting but would probably clean up nice, snare is 10 lug metal (I'm assuming aluminum). Heavy, heavy duty Premier Trilok hi hat stand, REMO rototoms that appear to be 8" & 12". Junk Pulse cymbals and misc junk stands.

My observations on the drums:

No apparent mods

tom mount looks complete

stick saver hoops all around (top and bottom)

reso heads appear to be original

Slingerland snare stand

snare 508224

tom 472497

floor tom 472412

bass 464203

PRICE TAG $200 for everything

What do you think? Are these decent Slingerlands as far as era and shell construction? Worth investing some money?

$200 for all that? Go for it.

You might even get a little $ back by selling the rototoms and cymbals. Maybe.

I think the chrome wrap kits are a cool look. Very `70s- `80s Rock.

Is this a kit you would play? As much fun as it is to find some decent playable drums for $200, they take up a hell of a lot more space than a nice cymbal or even a lucky snare drum find. I'd pass. Save the bread for something special.

Best,

Aaron

You will probably make all the money back selling the Roto toms and student cymbals, then enjoy your FREE circa 1981 Slingerland set-Who's heard of American drums for $200?

Those COW drums sound excellent...the finish helps somehow......

As said above....I'd be there when the doors open tomorrow....

Heck...who knows?...if you flash $175 cash...they may bite....

I see people asking $75-100 just for the Set-o-Matic Tom mount...and probably getting it!
