I have two rogers dynasonics COB 6.5"

One has the Big R and one has the script. I swear the Script one sounds 'lighter' to me, less focused.

Is this possible? Did the shells change much?

Please let me know your nerdy opinions!

About the only differences between the two drums are the badge and locations. Later Big R drums used a somewhat lighter version of the throw off and dampener, but we are only talking a few grams worth of weight here.

Same heads on both drums, same tuning, same wires? They should be very similar.

I own five COB 5x14 drums that range from 63-77 they are all very close.

Yeah i haven;t tried them both with the same hoops (don't have any two the same) and i have found hoops make a massive difference to the sound so maybe this is proof of that!

For example my Ludwig Supraphonic (b/o badge) came with a ludwig marching hoop on it for some reason and with that on it the drum sounds terrible, with a normal rolled hoop it sounds great though.

thanks for the info mate.

Oh and does anyone the thickness of the Dynasonic COB shells?

And how that compares to a ludwig Black Magic or Pearl Free Floating brass?

A mate has a TAMA bell Brass and i LOVE it! But i'll never be able to afford one of those but wondering if any other brass shells are available that are thicker than usual.
