Help to Identify an Old Snare Drum Last viewed: 56 minutes ago

Loading...

A non drummer friend of mine has had this snare drum for years picking it up at some sale years back with a bunch of other junk. We cannot find any markings on it other than the number 1227 on the snare throw-off. It has roughly a 12.5" diameter head on it.

Anyone have any idea what brand it might be and the approximate age of it, or if there is any value to it?

Any help would be appreciated.

My :2Cents:

It looks like a student or junior model drum from the 20-30's. Many of the big drum companies (Slingerland, Ludwig etc) had single tension drums that look very similar to this one. 12.5" is probably a junior drum for kids. I would pay 50-100 for it but that's just me. I don't think is "super rare" or "one of a kind" but its certainly old and interesting.

No idea about the brand though, hopefully someone has seen one before.
