Help with 60's Ludwig 10 lug Acrolite Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Hi guys,

I picked this drum up yesterday.

It is an Acrolite but with 10 lugs!! Don't know much about them.

Is it very rare?

If any one can give me some info about it I would appreciate it.

Thanks,

Harry

Looks like a 6.5 x 14, if so they were all ten luggers. Too bad they didn't make an eight lugger in the 6.5" version.

Never play it the same way once.

So, it's called an Acrolite because it has a satin finish and bow-tie lugs, but because there are ten lugs, isn't it for all intents and purposes, a Supraphonic with a satin finish and bow-tie lugs? Hmmmm

you could argue it either way. the black galaxy acrolites that ludwig has been making for years are also 10 luggers with bowties.

Hi fellas,

Thanks for all your info and input.

I bought a set of beat up Ludwigs on Kijii.

I could see by the pics there was a '60s Acro. (pic of badge only).

Anyway, bought them and this is the snare!!

Will post pics when the clean up is done.

Thanks again guys,

Harry

I suppose 10 lugs makes it close to being a Supra...but Supras are plated in chrome and the Acro is not plated. However...maybe we can call it a "raw" or "naked" Supra?
