Trying to identify this drum and the value of this drum. Originally thought it was brass, but the "B" stamp above the muffler knob is facing the correct way.
So is it brass or bronze?Value? Chicago badge with a 1XXXXXX serial number.
Thanks!

Looks like bronze in your pics, brass is usually a little more on the yellow side. What does it sound like? Bronze will be darker and drier than brass.
agreed. the shell color looks identical to my monroe badge hammered bronze model.
mike
Definitely bronze.
Looks BZ to me too.
That badge number seems a bit low to me though. I thought they started in the 3xxxxxx's with these??? But then there is little reason to the badge numbers that I can figure out.
Correct about the badge number-my brain must be going-the actual badge number is 3112859. No date stamp on the inside-what year would this be? Chicago cross stick badge
I believe the first "Offcial" production year was in 1981 for smooth and Hammered was 1982...
Mine was purchased on 17DEC1985 and has a slightly lower badge number (3112485), so it appears to be a contemporary.
I did buy mine from store stock (I paid $315 out the door) and I'm not sure how long it was there before I grabbed it, so I would certainly estimate the drums to be manufactured earlier in 1985. Llikelyhood of earlier dates???

So I took another look at this and the B is facing the right way-everyone above says it looks bronze but with the B facing the right way above the muffler would it be brass? Any idea of the value?
