help with ebay?? Last viewed: 8 hours ago

I was high bidder on a drum for the last week or so and thought I had a good chance of getting it. The auction ended a few hours ago. I checked about and hour before the end. I didn't want to put my max bid any higher so I was okay with maybe being outbid. I checked a few minutes ago and the drum is not here - it and all the information about it is gone. It's not in the 'didn't win' or purchase history - it's just gone.

What has happened? Did the seller maybe pull the item because it wasn't high enough? How do I find out what happened?

That's a Big 10-4 on that Gary..Sounds like the drum was not getting what the seller wanted so they pulled it or they sold it of site.....Mikey

Sounds like eBay pulled the auction. Especially with it not being able to be found in your didn't win items. Even if it's ended early by the seller it can be found. Only if eBay does away with it can it not be.

Looking for a late 80's to early 90's, preferably Arctic White Pearl MLX 14x14 floor tom.

I agree, sounds like Ebay yanked the auction. There must have been some funny business going on with the seller's account, be it non-payment of their ebay fees, or possibly shill-bidding, or maybe the account was compromised. Any way you look at it, it was yanked, and once ebay yanks something like that, there is no way to track it again, since they treat it like i never existed in the first place.

It's like magic!

I just looked again and all of a sudden the drum was there!

http://my.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?MyEbayBeta&CurrentPage=MyeBayNextLost&ssPageName=STRK:ME:LNLK:MEDWX&_trksid=p3984.m2034.l3384

It was not anywhere to be found on the site until just now - when I clicked onto "didn't win"

I don't know what happened ......but it's there now.

Has anyone had this happen to them?

sometimes items don't show up when you go looking for them. it has happened once or twice to me and then they are there later. unfortunately, that's the least of ebay's problems.

Thanks,

Also....I don't mean to go on about this but I'm trying to understand.

I emailed the seller and he said he was sorry I missed out in the final seconds. I looked at the winning bid and the time it was made and it was hours after the end of the auction. The auction ended at around 7pm pacific time Aug 25th...that would be about 4pm ETime. The winning bid was placed after midnight ETime.....the next day!

Very confusing - maybe I just have to take a course in eBay....maybe read up on the rules a little more. I must admit I have not spent much time doing that.

i think the other way around-----10: 00 E.D.T. -----can't see why a bid could come in after the auction ended. never encountered that but a lot of sellers know that ebay will do nothing about their actions unless it is completely illegal. i can't see how anyone could manipulate the end of an auction though.

Oops - ya - it ended around 22:00 hrs EDT = 19:00 PDT.

I was curious an hour or so ago and clicked onto the bidders and I see 5*****5 won

http://offer.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBids&item=160868019198&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:BIDN&_trksid=p3984.m1435.l2765

and the winning bid was on the 26th .......the auction was set to end around 19:00 hrs on the 25th. I know that because I was bidding and I went to see if I won later that evening and the auction was nowhere to be found - until very recently as I explained above.

I do remember looking at the auction when there was about 1hr + left to go....in the late afternoon on Sat. the 25th......so I know it was set to end way before midnight EDT and for sure before the 26th. Weird hu.

I'm not complaining and I'm not launching a complaint to eBay - I'm just trying to work through this in my head. It's probably not even worth the Thread....but I'm just curious if it has happened lots before to others on here and elsewhere.....if it is a common occurrence.
