Help with info on Rogers Luxor snare? Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Hi, y'all -- I'm planning on selling this on ebay, I'd try it here but I'm going to start at $275, which may not appeal.

The tag says Cleveland 10727. I haven't been able to find any info that would really help with dating, quality, etc.

It really is beautiful! I bought in from Amade Music on ebay, and I no doubt paid too much, which is why I'm going to start it at that high a price. Hey, I know it was my decision...but I was smitten, it was quite late and...

Can you help me out with more info?

As always, many thanks for the collective knowledge!

Why sell it?

I think it is one of the best 'big band' sounding snare drums out there. The rim shots hav the perfect ring to them.

Mine has the older B&B lugs and is white pearl, but otherwise the same.

You have the later (and arguably better- certainly more durable) lugs on yours.

It is worth exactly what you get paid for it, just like stock. Only DynaSonics are getting the big bucks for Rogers snare drums these days...

Cobalt Blue Yamaha Recording Custom 20b-22b-8-10-12-13-15-16f-18f
Red Ripple '70's Yamaha D-20 20b-12-14f
Piano Black Yamaha Recording Custom Be-Bop kit 18b-10-14f
Snares:
Yamaha COS SDM5; Yamaha Cobalt Blue RC 5-1/2x14; Gretsch round badge WMP; 1972 Ludwig Acrolite; 1978 Ludwig Super Sensitive; Cobalt Blue one-off Montineri; Yamaha Musashi 6.5X13 Oak; cheap 3.5X13 brass piccolo

$275 is pretty optomistic... I think flat gray paint and Cleveland tags puts it mid/late 60's.

Not to be a buzz-kill but I think $225 might be a better start to get some people bidding... if you are sure you want to dump it.

I'm really with J!m... the Tower and Luxor are these wonderful Rogers snares that get overlooked because Dynas and Powertones get all the looks.

Stick it behind a matching Tower kit and you have sweet little taxi cab jazzer.

Well, you have a point. I am not sure whether it's time to sell it. But I have gathered a few snares... and this is the only Rogers. Mid to late 60's? It is mighty sweet!

maybe better to sell the COB Krupa.... at $225, it'd be about the same.

Thanks for the info!!

HmmmmDANG... tough choice. I do like my Sound King, that said I play my Tower kit every day.

A nice Sound King should draw attention at $225 for sure.

Well best of luck which ever you choose. Sounds like you have great taste in snares.
