Do they have the script badge or the oval bronze Eagle badge?

They have script badges and they are slightly angled lower from l to r . Plus they actually are beavertails I believe I miss typed to be B&B ( sorry) . The BD mount is a little more towards the center line or top of the drum then most I've seen . Although some of the numbers are close , interiors vary and the straight floor tom legs has me inquiring . 66-67 ' ? Thanks

Interesting mix if this was purchased as a set. I'll take a stab at the dating, but our Rogers experts will verify if they chime in:

Those Cleveland serial numbers have to be close to the end of the Cleveland run in 1966 before the 1967 transition to Dayton tags, but I believe the slotted hex screws didn't appear on the Dayton shells until 1968, so it looks like you've got a 1966-1968 mix. Anyone else have an opinion?

That's kinda what I was figuring as well. I do believe it was originally purchased as a full kit . Three out of four of the numbers are relatively close in sequence yet 2 are Dayton and one Cleveland . Also, what's up with the straight floor tom legs? I think the Delta Kit had them from this period I saw somewhere ? Everything matches beautifully and is in great condition so that's fine . But, if the case did exist as it appears in this one that it could over the span of two years ? 66'-68' . I wonder if they made a practice of pairing drums and parts together from two different years to form a new kit IF there wasn't too much of a design change ? Anyone hear of this before? Maybe this isn't so rare .

I don't think this was a rare practice at all for Rogers or any other US drum manufacturer. Just because a tom was assembled and tagged in 1966 doesn't mean it was shipped or sold in 1966. It could have sat in the warehouse until it was needed. That's why dating by serial numbers and the date of purchase is a speculative business. Serial number tags were grabbed at random and then attached to a shell that may have sat unsold for a period of time. Unless a shell has a specific calendar date stamped inside (like Ludwig), determining the actual birthday of a drum becomes educated guesswork, and in the end, not all that important.

Thanks for your input it confirmed what I had thought . I was just questioning more of not the practice itself but rather the span of two years difference in between model years . The idea of a drum sitting in a warehouse for two years then tagged and sold seemed a bit of a stretch . But probably not and very logical. Thanks again
