Hi, m8! I too own a purchased-new set of 1965 Slingerlands. My only set since because there is no need to upgrade.

The good news is, that despite the correct comments about their condition and value, I'll bet they sound awesome with those heads, properly tuned.

I note that the 1965 catalogue for the Modern Solo Outfit gave options for a 22" bass drum and for a pearl finish snare. Perhaps that was the way this kit was ordered.

Just for my curiosity, could you please post the serial numbers and date stamps on the inner shells? I would appreciate that.

Where did you have them stored? Slingerland chrome is noted for it's quality and I'm surprised at the amount of pitting on your set, Sorry.

hey guys, I really appreciate all the advice and insight. I bought these drums when I was 13 and played in a bunch of bands until my early 20's...that was 25 years ago. Really havent played them much since. They have been stored in my parents basement, and now we need to sell the house so I really am looking to sell them. As much as I do hate to part with them, it just makes the most sense.

I see these drums are now on Ebay. I wish you luck in your sale. However, if they were my drums and I was trying to get the most out of their retail value I would clean them and get the necessary parts to make them complete.
