holy crap I got a Super Classic set... Last viewed: 1 hour ago

I finnaly got one!

a 1967, sky blue pearl, keystone badged, white interior, white felt bb muffles, gull-wing spurs, ratchet consolette, 9x13, 16x16, 14x22, freaking "catalog" Super Classic!

now for the nit-picks:

Looks like replacement bottom hoops and tension rods(which they swaped to the topside) and a repainted front hoop.

The consolette was once mounted in the center position and moved to the left or vice-versa ( so theres two extra small holes in the top of the shell) but the shell was never drilled for a cymbal holder? maybe set up for a lefty?

The interiors are dirty and some paint has flaked away from the re-rings, but the rings are not cracked or seperating. probably due to bottom heads being left off, but the bearing edges look good.

this last one is'nt really a complaint, I have never really liked SBP but this set was a deal. but the color is not like the newer blueish wraps or green cigarette smoke and sunlight dulled pearls I've seen, maybe it's my poor eyesight but it seems more like a lighter Black diamond pearl, anyway it looks outstanding to me.

now the hunt for a snare, and the inlay, and a couple flatbase stands, and...

heres some pics

Nice kit. It could have been sold as a Ludwig Deluxe Classic ... which would explain the missing cymbal mount.

On the drum guide page the deluxe classic doesnt show up until 1971.

Did the exists before that, when did the big beat /atlas come into play?

Due to the Ludwig sale, the cats jump from 67 to 71, with a couple of flyers and Standard items in there. Yes, the Deluxe Classic existed prior to 71.

Congratulations! A very sweet looking kit.

I like those old Ludwig kits even better than the new ones. I don't know much about Ludwig drums but some of my friends have them and are die-hard fans. Don't blame em...Ludwig drum history and drums are legendary.

Lucky you!

Cheers!
