I need to ship a 16 x 22 bass drum (Columbus, Ohio to Houston, TX). Does anyone know what the cheapest way to ship a BD is? Thanks!

I use US Post when I ship because I don't have an account with UPS OR FEDEX.

Jeff is correct I use them when shipping anything from 26" bass drums and over. they are a little slower than the other shippers but they arrived undamaged and costly, here is a link for you, http://www.shipgreyhound.com/e/SitePages/gpxStep1.aspx

The US Post Office is convenient, and not too expensive, but a well packed 16x22 bass drum will likely be over their size limit. Note that I said well packed, as in at least a couple of inches of bubble wrap on all sides.

The Greyhound option will be the least expensive, but you and the person receiving it will have to travel to a Greyhound station, which might be a bit of a drive if you live in a very rural location.

I buy a double walled extra large 25x25x27 box for 9.75 from UHaul, cut down to the perfect size for whatever depth BD I'm shipping with a carton resizer. Pack with free paper grocery bags and or bubble wrap if I have it on hand, the BD will not move if tightly packed with brown grocery bags and my box is double walled. I recently fitted a 16x24'' into one of those boxes as well and it barely fit but was able to pack it snugly and safely. I use FedEx through feeBay to get the seller discount and with resizing the carton, shipping isn't usually over $55 which includes insurance and delivery signature. I used to dread shipping a BD but it's not as bad as one would think. Thought about using Greyhound package Express also but buyers usually just want their package shipping right to there door when using feeBay.

Found it!!
