My wife has been creative in utilizing my drums (in hard cases) around the house. My bass drum has a tablecloth cover with a vase and nic-nacs on it in the dining room, my trap case too. My floor tom is also covered with an cloth and displays photos in the entry way. Several of my snares are displayed on and in my audio/video cabinet in the living room, other toms and a snare are on shelves in the office. I use a small Roland kit to keep in shape. When I want to get out my Ludwigs to gig it's like a treasure hunt! Someday I hope to have space for a "drum room" with everything in one place.

I store mine like this (I only have one working). The other kit is in cases in the garage, waiting for me to finish cleaning it. I also have a bunch of stands leaning agains the wall in my closet. I like the tee-pee idea, if I had a few kits to be stored.

That is a Slingerland Expresso cocktail kit. The 16" floor tom is a floor tom and a bass drum. it has a 10" snare and a 10" tom. Cocktail kits were very popular back in the 40's. legend hs it, back in the prohibition days they were having a speak easy. They stored thier liquer in floor tom. The cops came and raided the party and searched for alcahol. One of the officers saw liquid dripping from the floor tom. Thus the cocktail drum. Yamaha and others still make cocktail kits. Mine is around 2002. They are more portable.

I have gear in my garage, as well as studio. I built these table-top /shelves to accommodate my drum trunks, PA gear, cases and miscellaneous gear. I have a workbench to do my restorations [not pictured] on another wall. I think the bag idea is great. It would keep dust and such off my drums.

Now I know what my next project is: a Slingerland Kegerator
