How do you pack and carry your drum sets? Last viewed: 2 hours ago

Jeff,

A pair of those will run about $2,100-$2,200 but for me it is seriously worth the money. The time savings is killer. Like I said, 15 minutes tops to strike a pretty good sized kit, and as quick as you can roll it on a truck you are done. If I were using standard roto-molded cases I would have at least 11 pieces and probably only two would have wheels. Then you get to worry about the drums getting destroyed in a truck.

I do have SKB cases for when these don't make sense or for when I have more than three kits out at a time.

I gig regularly, but it's smaller stuff. I travel as light as I can, but I still need most of the back of a station wagon or minivan. And I buy vehicles with drums in mind--excluding practically everything fun to drive.

Currently using a mixture of Protection Racket soft shell cases for my toms and hardware. The hardware cases have rollers at one end that have held up well over a lot of curbs and stairs. No probs after several years.

SKB hard cases for a couple of snares and bass drums. Excellent, but more bulky. I like 'em.

I use some cheap collapsible dolly that has given me a couple of years good service. And of course, I need a new cymbal bag.

SKB hardcases for all of the drums and cymbals, a suitcase for all of the hardware, a rolling cart to push it on, and the throne/rug get thrown on top. Easy peasy, compact, and protected.
