How much should I pay for this kit? Last viewed: 2 hours ago

Its a 65/66 Ludwig clubdate 12/14/20 with 14" matching snare in the common blue sparkle finish.

Shells are all solid and bearing edges are very good and there are no extra holes.

The 12" has good amount of scratches on the finish in just one side. Rims and lugs are very good and shiny. Shell is solid and bearing edges are good. It is missing its muffler.

The 14" floor tom has minor scratches, finish is very good. The legs are not original but very similar looking. Rims and lugs are very good and shiny. Shell is solid and bearing edges nice. It is missing its muffler.

The 20" bass drum has minor scratches. Non original spurs, hoops are present with the inlay but the black paint is chipped off in most places (i dont really care about paint on hoops). The original rail mount and arm are present. Lugs are shiny and T rods on resonant side are not original but they are Ludwigs from other model from 60s. Bass drum cymbal mount is present but it is missing the stand.

The 14" pioneer snare is pristine in finish and shell condition. One of the rims is just slightly bent and also the muffler handle is slightly bent but it works and it requires pressure to get it above the rim. Otherwise the snare is the nicest drum of all.

Please let me know what is the value of this kit in today's market.

Thanks,

Araz

It is hard to tell from ebay. Everyone is just asking whatever they want. I checked ebay and there is currently a 3 piece club date in champagne sparkle which is missing the floor tom and asking $1350 plus shipping and then there is a 4 piece silver sparkle missing some rims and tension rods asking for about $1100 plus shipping. And then i checked the clubdates sold on the forum and some were about 1200 and some were at $800-900 but some threads were from 4-5 years ago, did these kits appreciate in value in the past couple of years?

I would go as high as $800, given the soft market these days.

Nice kit though. I have same but in sky blue pearl.

Just The snare itself worth 200 bucks at least. You mean you will pay maximum 600 bucks for the the 12/14/20?

I've seen Pioneer snares in blue sparkle sell for less than $200. I probably wouldn't say "at least".

From a buyers perspective and given the market, $800 is a good starting point.

Well, i said "at least" because this one is in very good condition. I sold my silver sparkle pioneer for $300. If you check on ebay the clean ones are in fact $200 and above. If I can get the 4 piece for 800 i would steal it. The guy is asking $1100.

Hi Jazzie - yeah I would go $800 max for everything. Show up with cash and I guarantee the buyer will take it :)

Jazzhead, I'd say you're right (& not just because I have 5 or 6 Club date kits). If you got the 20,12,14 for $800., that'd be a sweet deal, & a $200 Pioneer is more than fair. If he's asking $1,100, I'd guess he'd go for $1,000.

I'm not dissing these guys here, but I think it's human nature to undervalue things other people own, & overvalue what you yourself own. If someone says a drum set is worth $800., ask them to sell you theirs for $800. I'm guessing most of us would say "no way!". We're all buyers & sellers to some extent, & there's nothing wrong in paying a fair price for something we want. Great deals are fun, but don't happen all that often. A nice blue sparkle Club Date would be a treat to own. I hope you can strike a deal with the seller. No offense to previous posters; just my 2c.........marko PS: post some pics if you get 'em.
