How can you tell the difference between Ludwig and Rogers wood bass drum hoops 20". Some are easy because of the wrap color not being offered by both companys but what abour Silver and Red Sparkle? How about BDP? Is it the width? Thickness? or does it only come down to wrap color?

In my experience it goes:
Slingerland thinnest inlay, Ludwig second, Rogers third, Gretsch thickest. Also the more you see the hoops you notice subtle shape differences. Rogers seem more square to me, Ludwig are thinner and a little wider...etc etc. Mostly I am talking 60's and 70's drums here.
