Was watching excerpts from these old 1960s tv episodes on PBS last weekend and drooling bigtime over the drum kits -- not the dancers...lol - featured by bands of that era. The Kinks, The Byrds, Lovin Spoonful, Herman's Hermits, etc. Some priceless pieces ... Anyone else catch those.? Here's a photo of Charlie Watts playing a Ludwig? The horror!

LOL! Caught most of them first time around in the 60's.
Oh God yes.
Hours can be spent on Youtube with stuff like this.
I believe The TAMI Show can be found in it's entirety.
What girls???
Excited
(very short drum solo)
Right there with you, and at ten years of age, it was the drums that earned most of my attention, not those silly girls jumping around in Go-Go boots!
Jeez, larryz, thanks for posting! Man, what memories! Great show! Great bands! How about "Shindig" and the house band, "The Shindogs"? Anyone remember? With all respect, mchair, for me, it was the girls! I guess at my age back then, the drums weren't quite as important as they are to me now. Ahhh...to be MUCH younger.

Great shows! If you were in the UK in the 60's there was "Ready, Steady, Go!" I was in the UK in late '65 on family vacation, was glued to the TV when it was on. Parents hated it. lol
I watched TAMi at a friends place recently and was drooling over drums (and probably driving my friend nuts), but then the Beach Boys come on with this swirly candy cane Camco (I'm assuming it was red and white 'cause TAMI is in B & W) and I almost fainted. I'd love to see a color pic of that one!

Saw the Spoonful mentioned... I got to sub for Joe Butler (1966/7?) for a week when the Spoonful was the house band at the Cafe' Wha in Greenwich Village, NY. I was the in-house drummer at Ben-Gor Studios on Bleeker St. and one day I was assigned to play with them for a week until Joe got back. Great bunch of guys, the club was packed every night. They had a huge following in NYCity and if memory serves, I bagged a couple of fillies at the club during my short stint with the band. They went on to record, Do You Believe In Magic shortly afterward and then it was 'rocket to stardom' for those boys. I had a ball playing with them. Fun, upbeat, feel-good music. Easy gig. I don't know if anybody remembers them, but I also got to sub for two weeks with the Blues Magoos. (One hit wonders, their big tune was, Tobacco Road.)
Ahhh, the 60's!

Saw Wilson's Blue Moire kit in person in 1965. I walked up to the stage and stared at them. No mics on the drums back then, but I could hear them surprisingly well in a sports arena venue. First Camco kit I'd ever seen. By the time I saw Jim Gordon playing his kit, I had one.
